Description
Known by several names, including Lily of the Incas and Peruvian Lily, Alstroemeria are actually more closely linked to amaryllis than to true lilies. Although they are accessible all year round in cultivated forms, they grow wild in South America’s highlands.
Alstroemeria are a must-have for every floral arrangement, coming in a variety of colors such as vivid yellow, bright scarlet, or deep magenta, as well as pure white, blushing pink, or soft apricot. Their small lily-shaped blooms, which quietly give color or draw attention, go wonderfully with bigger, more dramatic flowers like gerberas and roses.
Unlike many other cut flowers that require a companion to offer contrast, these blossoms stand out on their own thanks to their gently tinted petals striped with darker hues.
